Description

Explore the archaeological zone of Pachacamac and discover all its mysteries. Visit the different temples of the sanctuary and the museum with a guide.

Pachacamac is the largest and most important archaeological site in LIMA. This area contains more than 50 architectural structures, many of them built with canted stones and adobes of various sizes.
Pachacamac was the most important center on the coast for more than 1500 years. It is located in the valley of Lurin. In its origins it reached its first cultural peak (200 LIMA- 650 AD). Later it occurred during the Middle Horizon period with the Wari culture (650 - 1100 AD), at that time it was a religious center. Then the Ychsma (1100 - 1470 AD) built the Painted Temple. Finally when the Incas arrived (1470 - 1532 AD) they built the Temple of the Sun and the Acllawasi. None of the constructions resemble those of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary as some travelers explain.
