We start at 6am from Lima, stop at km 77.5 (around 7am) at DelPino Restaurant for a coffee and to try chicharrones and other classics for Peruvian breakfast.
We drive 2 more hours to Caral, where we arrive around 10am to visit the oldest city in America, contemporary with ancient Mesopotamia and the pyramids of Egypt.
At 11.30am we leave for Huaura (one hour away by our transport) and visit the famous balcony where Peru's independence from the viceroyalty of Spain was first declared by the liberator San Martin. We visit this beautiful house and museum.
Then we head to the Lomas de Lachay, a 12,500-acre (5,070-hectare) protected area distinguished in its humid ecosystem with varieties of plants and animals. A short walk of 30 minutes and then the picnic.
At about 3pm, we will start our way back to Lima, where we will be arriving at about 6-7pm.
